Name: Joshua Kingston
Race: Human/Betazoid
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Career Path: Xenoanthropology, Science Division
Ship: U.S.S. Lawson (ICly. OOCly, I use the U.S.S. T'Soni for combat)
Eyes: Black
Hair: Black
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 66 kg
Physical Description: While on duty, Josh maintains a professional appearance in accordance with Federation guidelines. When off-duty, Josh prefers more uncommon clothing such as robes to allow for easier movement.
While his wardrobe covers up his entire body almost all of the time, Reece actually maintains a thin, toned physique similar to that of a runner or swimmer. However, this may be due to genetics as he's rarely ever seen working out.
Personality: As with other Betazoids, Joshua's telepathic and empathic abilities have given him the natural trait of being honest, and never lies if the goal is simply to spare someone's feelings.
Strengths & Weaknesses: Though Joshua is a science officer, he seems more adaptable to combat situations than most of his colleagues and can manage to keep a cool head. However, Joshua's physical feebleness renders him virtually useless in ground combat.
While Joshua is capable of utilizing his Betazoid abilities, he only began to hone them as an adolescent and therefore has slightly less control over his abilities than the average Betazoid. While he can block out most background mental noise, being in close proximity (same room) with large groups can be taxing on his mind, sometimes requiring him to rest.
Socially, Joshua is (rightly) classified as a recluse, preferring to read or conduct experiments alone. When asked by a previous CO why he isolates himself, Joshua admitted that he prefers solitude because only then can he relax and not worry about blocking excess telepathic noise.
Ambitions: Ever since he could speak, Joshua has always been a curious person: whether he was studying biology, anthropology, or even philosophy the word that most frequently used was "Why?" As such, Joshua lives with the single goal of devoting his life to the study of the unknown universe.
Hobbies & Interests: Though some call research and studying a laborious task, Joshua calls them hobbies. The unknown and the identified are his first love, and frequently passes up social gatherings to mull the latest medical and scientific breakthroughs.
On the occasion that Joshua has nothing scientific to occupy himself with, he'll read or listen to music in his quarters. Whatever Joshua does, he seems to prefer doing it alone.
Family: Father - Telor Kensen - DECEASED
Mother - Rila Kensen (legally changed to Amelia Kingston)
Background: Born in New York City to a human and betazoid couple, Jerrel Kensen (Joshua's birth name) was fortunate enough to have an excellent childhood: he had a loving family, was well taken care of, and had the freedom to pursue his interests. But when an antigrav malfunction at the East River docks killed his father, Joshua's life quickly took a new and uncomfortable turn: his mother, out of grief, changed his name to Joshua Kingston and was sent to Starfleet Academy to train as a science officer. And between the stress of his father's death and being sent to the academy, his Betazoid abilities hit their spike and Joshua, despite having access to Betazoid mentors, ultimately honed his abilities by himself, but never managed to completely master them.
But as time went on, Joshua realized that coming to the academy was probably the best thing to happen to him. Rather than staying on Earth surrounded by old memories and the same experiences, he now had the opportunity to travel the stars and seek out knowledge that no one else had ever found before.
For the past year, Kingston has worked aboard Starbase Atlantis as Chief Science Officer and began a relationship with Jeren Nox, a nurse aboard the station. After a situation which left Nox in mortal danger, Kingston decided to resign his post as CSO in search of a less dangerous position. He currently works part-time as a lecturer aboard the U.S.S. Kaplan, an academy afloat near the Sol system, but after hearing of Starbase 332's return, Kingston felt an overpowering urge to be among the first who unravel the station's mystery.
